Every May my mother's garden (pictured) starts popping with color, even though she's been gone for more than two years.
It's a testament to her gardening skill that not only has her garden continued to flourish, it has continued to do so despite my meddling.
I realize now how much more there was to this garden of hers. First there is the lush green, then bright reds and yellows, soon followed by her favorite purple irises. All cleverly timed so there are blooms for most of the summer and fall season.
As more of an "anything goes" type of gardener, I add some touches of color here and there with sunflowers or a small clump of wildflowers. But for the most part, I just let it be.
I think the results speak for themselves.
